Academic degrees that I hold are in
science, so part of my brain is developed to analyze everything and later I,
through destiny I guess, moved towards astrology and also philosophy. So, part
of my brain is science another is philosophical and there is a bridge between
the two parts where I am always transiting. My outlook is philosophical but my
methodology is science. Recently, I noticed lot of scientific work is done on
‘Soul/atma’. So, came the blog post:-
Is there any scientific theory for existence of Soul/Atma?
Traditionally, science has dismissed the soul as an object of human belief, or reduced it to a psychological concept. Indeed, a soul has never been seen under an electron microscope, nor spun in the laboratory or in any conceivable scientific methodology. Isn’t the reality of the soul is among the most important questions of life?
The soul is described in the Bhagavad-Gita,
the Hindu scripture as
Bhagwad
Gītā, chapter 2, TEXT 20
na jayate
mriyate va kadacin
nayam bhutva bhavita va na bhuyah
ajo nityah sasvato 'yam purano
na hanyate hanyamane sarire

For the soul there is never neither birth
nor death. Nor, having once been, does soul ever cease to be. Soul is unborn,
eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. Soul does not die on death.
Although Hindu religion goes on and on
about soul/atma existence, but now string of new scientific experiments has
also helped answer this ancient spiritual question.
What has science to say:-
1.A book titled “Biocentrism: How Life and
Consciousness Are the Keys to Understanding the Nature of the Universe“ has
stirred up the Internet, because it contained a notion that life does not
end when the body dies, and it can last forever. The author of this
publication, scientist Dr. Robert Lanza who was voted the 3rd most
important scientist alive by the NY Times, has no doubts that this is
possible. He gives a theory that
implies that death of consciousness (soul) simply does not exist.
It only exists as a thought because people identify themselves with
their body (very very similar to what is written in Bhagvat Gita, the Hindu
scripture!).
Dr. Robert Lanza, before he has been known
for his extensive research which dealt with stem cells, he was also
famous for several successful experiments on cloning endangered
animal species. Robert Lanza Receives Award for Eye-Opening Work on
Embryonic Stem Cells. Dr. Robert Lanza selected for the 2014 TIME 100 list of
the hundred most influential people in the world, along with Pope Francis,
Robert Redford, and other artists, pioneers, leaders, titans and icons. You can

2.Near-death experiences occur when the soul leaves the nervous system and enters the universe, claim two quantum physics experts-Dr Stuart Hameroff, Professor Emeritus at the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology and the Director of the Centre of Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona and British physicist Sir Roger Penrose have developed which holds that the essence of our soul is contained inside structures called microtubules within brain cells. They say the concept is similar to the Buddhist and Hindu belief that consciousness is an integral part of the universe. I am giving you the link for detailed read :
3.Scientists claim that Quantum Theory proves
consciousness (soul/atma) moves to another universe at death . See more at: http://www.spiritscienceandmetaphysics.com/scientists-claim-that-quantum-theory-proves-consciousness-moves-to-another-universe-at-death/
4. American Dr Stuart Hameroff and British physicist
Sir Roger Penrose developed a quantum theory of consciousness asserting that
our souls are contained inside structures called microtubules which live within
our brain cells. Dr Hameroff,
Professor Emeritus at the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology and
Director of the Centre of Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona,
and Sir Roger have been working on the theory since 1996.
5. The Australian biologist Jeremy Griffith goes
further and suggests that not only is our collective unconscious inherited, but
it is in fact a genuinely altruistic instinctive orientation. [Now, this is what is the basis of my book, Palmistry
-The Mystery Of Destiny, I call it karmic amnesia though, because of which
we forget about our past births!!]. He says, the source of our moral
guidance, the voice of which is our conscience, and which we have learnt to
call our ‘soul’.
Now, I come back finally: Is there a
scientific possibility for existence of -soul/atma?
The scientific theories imply that death
simply does not exist. What recent scientific theories are suggesting:--- Death
is an illusion which arises in the minds of people. It exists because people
identify themselves with their body. They believe that the body is going to
perish, sooner or later, thinking that their consciousness will disappear
too.
In fact, consciousness (soul) exists
outside of constraints of time and space. It is able to be anywhere: in the
human body and outside of it. That fits well with the basic postulates of quantum mechanics,
according to which a certain particle can be present anywhere and an event can
happen in several, sometimes countless, ways.
So, I ask you:- Do YOU have a belief
in the existence of Soul/Atma? Share your experiences or thoughts.
