In a highly rare occurrence, a Total Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan) will
occur this year on Diwali, the most auspicious and
important festival of Indians. A total solar eclipse will be visible in some
parts of the USA, Australia and New Zealand on Diwali day. Festivities in India
will continue as usual given that this celestial phenomenon will not be visible
in this part of the world. This is the third time in 250 years (previous occasions were in 1762 and 1995) that Diwali will fall on an eclipsed
day.
Diwali falls on Kartika amavasya day, the New Moon day of the Hindu calendar
and celebrates the victory of the Good over The Bad and Light over Darkness. This
date also marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and a new accounting year
for many businesses. There is immense cosmic energy on this day so ideal for
all spiritual and religious activities. This massive cosmic energy is further
enhanced by the powerful energy of the solar eclipse falling on this day.
Personally,
I believe, we as human beings like to project ourselves as ‘victims’ and say, ‘why
is God doing this with me?’, ‘why am I suffering and others are rejoicing?’ Next time when such thoughts creep into mind instead
look deeper, did Lord Ram or Jesus or any Prophets, had easy life when they
incarnated as human beings on Earth? ALL trying times are opportunities to
transform negativity into positivity and with each absorbed/utilized
opportunity we grow strong. The truth is each and every person and situation
can help us grow strong or weak. It is our perception and thereby our reactions
that are most important in life. If, we had made mistakes in our past it is
never too late, we can being anew and this Diwali universe is giving us this
immense cosmic energy to transform our spiritual being and reach the heights we
are destined for. This rare Diwali eclipse
is ‘Good’ for those engaged in ‘Lighting’ their souls with spiritual activities
and I believe, enlightened souls need not fear anything be it eclipse or
anything else in life!!
Testing time does cause pain. However, neither sorrow nor happiness is permanent for mortals. Ignorance is the root cause of misery, but irony is that stars(so called celebrities) shine in darkness only. So, anyhow achieving heights in life should not be our sole criterion. In fact, we should develop a more holistic view of life, and life a balanced, happy, peaceful and purposeful life. It is beautifully said: ‘Never try to maintain relations in your life, just try to maintain life in your relations.’ This suggests that we should not waste our life, running after name, fame and money. Enlightened soul’s need not be the only ones who hog the limelight in this world, but also who live fulfilled life.
